Exhibitor Manager DOCS & HELP

Map Modes: Classic, Campus, Fairground

One plan for one hall, a site plan with clickable buildings, or all halls of a fairground on a real map: you choose the map mode per event. Exhibitors, booth numbers, search and print stay the same in all three modes.

The “Hall Plans (Parent Event Only)” box: the map display mode at the top, below it the map navigation display and the map rows with floor and building.

The three modes

ModeSuitsWhat it looks like
Classic 2D Hall Plan (default)Town halls, hotels, single buildingsEvery plan is a tab. External map services are never loaded.
Hybrid Campus MapCastle, university, grounds with several buildingsA site plan is the overview. Clicking a building opens its plan; the button “Back to Campus Overview” in the bar above leads back.
Fairground Geo-OverlayLarge fairs with several hallsAll halls sit true to scale on map tiles. The floor selector switches all halls to the same level at once.

Setting it up in the event

  1. 1
    Choose the map display mode

Click one of the three cards in the “Hall Plans (Parent Event Only)” box.

  2. 2
    Set the map navigation display

“Global Default” uses the setting under Settings → Functions & Defaults. The other options are “Buttons / Dropdown” (buttons up to three maps, a dropdown from four), “Always Dropdown” (from two maps) and the “Floor Selector” as a vertical bar. The fairground mode always uses the floor selector.

  3. 3
Set the floor per map row

Floors −3 to 8 and “Floor: — None —” are offered; “+ Custom floor…” takes any other whole number, e.g. 12 for a high-rise. The floor selector sorts from top to bottom (e.g. 2, 1, 0, −1) and starts on floor 0. Plans without a floor appear there with their first letter.

  4. 4
    Further fields per mode

Campus and geo mode show the Building / Hall ID, campus mode “⭐ Use as Campus Overview Map”, geo mode “Fit onto Fairground Map”. Then save the event.

Plans from the designer

For floors from the hall plan designer, set the building / hall name and the floor level in the designer (floor properties). When saving, it copies both into the map row – empty fields too. Whatever you change here in the map row is overwritten by the next save in the designer.

Campus: overview and buildings

  • Tick “⭐ Use as Campus Overview Map” on exactly one plan – the map starts with it.
  • For each building plan, enter the building’s name in the Building / Hall ID, e.g. “Castle”. Several floors of one building carry the same name; clicking the building opens its floor 0, otherwise the first floor in the list.
  • In the site plan, each building needs a reference to that name: in the hall plan designer the option “Campus building hotspot” on a room or area, in your own SVG file the attribute data-eem-building="Castle" or an ID such as goto-building-Castle.

Fairground: location and fitting

  1. 1
    Choose the grounds

Under “Fairground Location & Georeferencing”, pick one of the 58 fairground presets in ten regions of the world or enter latitude, longitude, zoom level (12–20) and rotation yourself.

  2. 2
    Fit the hall

For each plan, “Fit onto Fairground Map”: the window shows the plan over the map. Move it, resize it at the corners, rotate it at the handle. Width in metres, plan rotation, fairground alignment, opacity and map style also work as numbers or a selection.

  3. 3
    Save

“Apply & Save Position”, then save the event. The row shows “✓ Placed on Fairground”. With “Copy from...” another floor of the same hall gets the same fit.

All plans with the same floor appear together on the map.

Map service and consent

Under Settings → Functions & Defaults, card “Map Services & External Maps (Campus & Geo-Overlay)”. Only the fairground mode loads map tiles.

SettingEffect
Map Tile ProviderOpenStreetMap (default), Esri Light Gray Canvas, Esri World Street Map, CARTO Positron, CARTO Voyager, MapTiler, Mapbox.
Map API Key / TokenRequired for MapTiler, Mapbox, CARTO Positron and CARTO Voyager (free for CARTO at carto.com/basemaps/apikey; without a key CARTO shows an “API KEY REQUIRED” watermark). OpenStreetMap, Esri Light Gray Canvas and Esri World Street Map load without a key.
Privacy & GDPR ConsentOn by default: before loading tiles the map asks, naming the provider. “Do not ask again” remembers the answer; after declining, a button in the map reopens the question.

Visitors who decline see the halls without a map background. The map shows the provider’s attribution by itself.

Try it live

The “Hall plans” page of the product site shows all three modes with sample events: Culture Hall (classic), Mühlbach Castle (campus) and four halls on the Theresienwiese (fairground).

Map background

Campus and fairground can sit on map tiles. The switch “Show map background in grayscale” (default: on) makes the plan stand out from the map. Turned off, the colours stay and are only slightly muted, for example for the CARTO Voyager map service. Esri Light Gray is limited to zoom level 16.
